The youngest vendors at the Kuna Farmers Market are the Kreps Kids – Quinten, age
11; Clayton, age 8; and Shenae, who is 5 years old. They wanted to earn extra money
over the summer, so their parents, Jacquie and Jay Kreps, helped them make a plan
for a garden for the family and for the farmers market. Their journey began in the
spring with starting seedlings in a small greenhouse. They prepared the garden spot
and planted once the weather allowed
Now the garden is producing crook neck squash, zucchini, and cucumbers for the market.
The kids are also harvesting tomatoes and hope to have enough for the market soon.
Most of the carrots are eaten by the kids or given to the horse for treats. Later
the pumpkins will be coming on.
When you visit the Kreps Kids booth, ask for the Kreps family’s favorite zucchini
recipe--Chocolate Zucchini Cake.
Also while at the kids’ booth, ask Quinten to demonstrate the snakes he crafted.
The Kreps family lives west of Kuna and the kids attend Liberty Charter School in
Nampa. In addition to maintaining their garden, Quinten and Shenae play soccer.
Clayton chose to play basketball this year.
The Kuna Farmers Market opens at 9 am and runs until 12 noon at the SandStone Plaza
at the west end of Main Street in Kuna. If you would like more information, contact
