Vogel Farms, known for their farm-fresh pork and beef, will be serving ice cream at the Market on Saturday. With the temperatures pressing triple digits, a big scoop of ice cream with your choice of topping will be a delicious way to cool down.

Complement the ice cream with sweet treats from our other vendors for the ultimate Saturday morning indulgence. The Kuna Grange will be having a bake sale with a wide selection of favorites from the kitchens of their members. Connie’s Country Kitchen has cookie choices from Snickerdoodles to Survival Cookies along with cinnamon rolls. Navajo Willow Farm has Nutty Knots. Ice cream with raspberry biscotti from Clio and Nora Gourmet Biscotti would also be a delectable combination.

Vogel Farms has expanded their menu of food served at the Market. The breakfast sandwich debuted last week. It is a sausage patty and egg, both fresh from the farm, and cheese, all on an English muffin. This menu item rotates with barbequed beef on a bun, hamburgers, and Philly Steak sandwiches. Every Saturday they serve their specialty sausages--Polish Kielbasa, Smoked German, Idaho Sage, Basque Chorizo, and Bratwurst.

All pork and beef from Vogel farms is all-natural and responsibly grown—no hormones, no antibiotics, and the animals are well cared for. The animals are grain fed to create tender cuts of meat. The meats are fresh frozen without the addition of water. The bacon and hams are dry cured, the old-fashioned method without phosphate which is a preservative added to hold extra water.

A full line of pork and beef cuts is available from Vogel Farms at the Market and at their farm on Robinson Road west of Kuna. They offer meats by the package and in Mini-Combos with an assortment of beef and pork ranging from $20 to $55.

In addition to the meats, Vogel Farms has eggs. As the season progresses they will have sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, broccoli, and eggplant.

Vogel Farms is a family business. Debi and her husband, Ed Vogel, include their son and daughter and their families in the operation. Janell and Chris Lester and Ben and Tori Vogel along with their son Devin are active in the farm and the Market. The business is growing—both with the products offered and in the family members. Janell and Tori are both expecting baby boys in August.

Visit the Vogels at the Market or call them at 466-6928 to arrange a farm tour.

Market hours are from 9 am to 12 noon every Saturday through October 27. The location is at Sandstone Plaza at the west end of Main Street in downtown Kuna.
