The Market is bustling Saturday mornings. Bright colored tents line the parking lot in Sandstone Plaza. Vendors have artistically arranged their produce and wares and cheerfully greet customers. Couples wander through with their cups of coffee. Families with children stop at the entrance for a wagon to carry shopping bags and kids. Families, friends, and neighbors gather to catch up on news. Out-of-town visitors comment on what a pleasant surprise they found in Kuna.

Meal planning can be exciting with all of the fresh produce and meats at the Market. Breakfast could include fresh blackberries as a cereal topper, a cantaloupe or Crenshaw melon, or a large Knutty Knot sweet roll. For a hearty breakfast or lunch served hot at the Market, the choices range from specialty sausages on a bun, sausage and egg sandwiches, to BBQ beef sandwiches.

Pork and beef cuts along with the sausages and hamburger can be purchased in packages for home meals.

Ingredients for a flavor-packed stir fry with summer squash or eggplant can be gathered from Market booths. There are many choices for young, tender summer squash—pattypan, crooknecks, and zucchinis in green and yellow and in elongated or ball shapes. Garlic and onions are available along with small tomatoes. Fresh basil, for a distinct aroma and flavor, is also offered.

Fresh-baked potato or honey-butter dinner rolls from the Market would be a great complement to the stir-fry. An ear of steaming hot sweet corn is a must for dinner at least a couple of times during the week while it is in season and at its best.

Dessert of fresh, sliced peaches, nectarines, or pears would be a delicious finale to any lunch or dinner.

More fresh produce at the Market: green beans, pickling cucumbers, peppers, watermelon, okra, chard.

Market hours are from 9 am to 12 noon every Saturday through October 27. The location is at Sandstone Plaza at the west end of Main Street in downtown Kuna.
