Chickens, horses, and a prolific garden are integral parts of Marri Champie’s ranch
south of Kuna. Marri promotes healthy, earth-friendly living through her ranching
practices and the products she sells at the Market.
Marri raises chickens and supplements their free-range diet with feed she specially
mixes. She sells a colorful assortment of eggs at the Market.
Her garden gives us baby squashes that are just the right size for salads, stir
fries, or grilling. Marri discovered a favorite in the Spicy Basil few years ago.
The small, aromatic leaves work well sprinkled in green salads or added as the finishing
touch to pastas or a squash and tomato stir fry. Marri also likes the Armenian cucumbers
with their sweet flavor and tender, pale skin. Okra is on now and pumpkins will
be ready in a few weeks.
Raising Black Arabian horses is another prominent activity at the ranch. Marri shows
her horses and has several all-black colts in training.
In addition to the ranch pursuit, Marri is a writer of fantasy and science fiction.
She also teaches composition at ITT Tech in Boise.
Stop by the Market and visit Marri at her booth. Market hours are from 9 am to noon
