The primary election is May 27. Candidates for the offices in the local district
for the US Congress, the Idaho Legislature, Ada County Commission, and the Kuna
Library Board are invited to attend the Market on Saturday. It will be an opportunity
to visit with the candidates and help make informed choices for this critical election.
Kuna Stimulus Day is also on Saturday. The Market is joining other businesses in
Kuna to encourage local buying. Supporting local businesses boosts the local economy.
Local buying also shapes our surroundings. In other words, our community is a reflection
of what we buy.
Shopping at the Farmers Market illustrates this point well. When shoppers buy more
fresh produce and meats grown by local families at the Market, those local families
thrive and expand their operations. As the demand for local produce increases, new
growers start market gardens and introduce new items. The result is that our community
contains small farms, family businesses, and a bountiful supply of fresh, high quality
foods.
For Kuna Stimulus Day, the Market will be giving away one of its sturdy, embroidered
shopping bags. The bag will contain coupons from Market vendors to help fill the
bag. You need not be present to win and the coupons can be used any time during
the season.
Come select from the wide array of bedding plants—from tomatoes to herbs, and hanging
baskets to perennial flowers. The asparagus and rhubarb are now on. Locally grown
lamb, pork, beef, and eggs are available. Also there are fresh baked sourdough and
potato breads.
The Market hours are 9 am to noon. The Market location is at Sandstone Plaza at
the west end of Main Street. For more information, contact Cheryl McCord at 922-5113
