Cathy Dillehay became captivated with quilting when she took her first class five years ago. In the class she completed a sampler quilt as she learned a new block design each month. Since that first class, Cathy has made numerous quilts, wall hangings, and purses. She incorporates much of her own design with the pattern and color choices in her creations.

Cathy’s enjoyment of quilting comes from years of sewing and her love of fabrics. Fabrics appeal to her visual and artistic senses and bring alive memories of her grandmother and her quilt work.

At the Market, Cathy displays a variety of her quilt projects. Reversible table runners can bring two different tones or seasons to the dining room. Wall hangings with designs such as an elegant Asian butterfly theme, soothing batik blends, or brilliant sunflowers are part of Cathy’s items for sale. Her Red Hat wall hanging is embellished with buttons and red feathers. The purses Cathy sews from leftover pieces from quilting projects or fabrics or recycled jeans are both eye-catching and functional.

Friend and fellow-quilter, Billie Bradley, also attends the Market with Cathy and displays some of her work. The wall hanging with gold embroidery motif is quite elegant.

Cathy takes orders for custom designs for special occasions or to coordinate new pieces with existing home décor. Her goal is to purchase a quilting machine and branch out into larger quilts.

Along with quilt items, Cathy makes Amish Friendship Bread, a delicious, sweet cake from a type of sourdough starter that is passed among family and friends. Cathy creates many different flavors of this moist cake including Cherry Chocolate, Butterscotch Pecan, and Piña Colata.

Cathy and her husband, Terry, live in Nampa.

Visit the Market to see Cathy’s art work and pick up apricots, green beans, cabbage, and zucchini that are now available. There also be Australian Zebra finches that a local family has raised.
