Marri Champie’s husband, Dave Strahm, will be filling in at the Market this week.
Marri will be attending the memorial service of her friend who perished in the Boise
wildfire last week.
Dave generously offered to take care of the Market booth. This is the challenge.
Dave is comfortable with his behind-the-scenes role in the Champie Ranch booth.
This Saturday, his challenge is to run the booth itself.
Dave raises and cares for the chickens that produce the multi-colored eggs Marri
sells. He mixes a special recipe of grains and seeds for the hens. His care of the
garden has yielded baskets of small, tender zucchinis and tiny patty-pan squashes
that are excellent for stir fries. The tomatillos and sunflowers are growing like
never before.
Dave is the creator of the decorative stepping stones Marri sells. Dave is an expert
at laying concrete foundations and has often made stepping stones from leftover
concrete. Last winter Marri and Dave purchased moulds based on classic designs and
the shapes for bees in the honey comb. These designs are now part of Marri’s collection.
Dave is also the chief taste tester of the Champie Ranch breads, jellies, mustards,
and relishes. Marri makes an array of breads--sourdough rounds and baguettes, Rancher
Bread and Country Buckwheat. Her pepper jellies, Apricot Habenero Lime and Ginger
Peach Habenero, are an amazing blend of sweet, fruit flavors with a hint of spice.
Her gourmet mustards come in both hot and mild flavors. New to her lineup are the
relishes--Kosher Dill and Amber Sweet.
Come visit Dave at the Market and help him have a great weekend in his new role.
