The Kuna Farmers Market opens for its fifth season on Saturday. The Market will be bursting with Spring color for Mothers Day surprises and for the yard and garden transformations.

The Market is held Saturdays from 9 am to 12 noon at Sandstone Plaza in Kuna at the west end of Main Street under the big American flag. The season goes through September.

Hanging baskets have been created especially for Mothers Day. Bring mom to select her own or surprise her with a lasting gift of flowers or a living salad basket.

It is time to plant. A wide selection of bedding plants will be available. Choose from annual flowers--pansies, violas, petunias, zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, geraniums, lobelias, flax, dahlias, and more. For the perennial garden there will be starts of shade-loving hostas and other hearty sun-loving flowers.

Tomato plants will be available in heirloom varieties along with other favorites. Other plants include peppers, cabbages, eggplants and melons. A selection of herbs and strawberry starts will also be offered.

Fresh asparagus is coming in.

Favorite foods from seasons passed will be back. Come for the hot sandwiches and the selection of beef, pork, lamb and farm fresh eggs. The bread selection is growing with the addition of fresh stone-ground whole wheat bread to the line up of sourdough, potato, rye, buckwheat, and savory herb breads. The sweet treats--fruit pies, Knutty Knots, and cookies--will be back.

New flavors of jams and jellies have been created from last fall’s harvest. Look for elderberry jam and spicy apple jelly or this season’s fresh strawberry jam.

One of our new vendors, Bling & Things has beaded jewelry from their own designs that would make wonderful gifts.

Confetti’s will be set up to help the kids make stepping stones that can be personalized for Mothers Day giving.

Come enjoy the spring opening and meet our expanding family of vendors. Learn from them what will be coming throughout the season.
