The Kuna Farmers Market and Sandstone Plaza is a Saturday morning breakfast destination. Last Saturday morning was sunny, the Market area was full of tents and colorful items, and shoppers were enjoying breakfasts ranging from hearty sausage and egg sandwiches and burritos to coffee and cookies to ice cream and French doughnuts.

This week there will be more choices. Vogel Farms continue to offer a Market favorite, the breakfast sandwich with sausage and eggs from their farm. The will also have sausage sandwiches and hamburgers. Try the new Slider, a mini-burger on a potato roll.

Chef Kris Howerton from Tannins set up a grill outside and to create a variety of breakfast burritos. The choice of ingredients includes eggs, sausage or ham, and onions. His Irish burrito is made with mashed potatoes and other additions of the diner’s choice.

In the next booth, Jen Nell of The Trellis Bistro will make Belgian waffles with strawberry or peach toppings. Last week was the debut of the Beignet (pronounced bey-YAY). This is an airy, French doughnut and a New Orleans specialty.

Tasty treats to go with The Trellis Bistro coffees can be found throughout the Market--cookies and sweet rolls or fruited breads. How about pie a la mode? Purchase a mini-pie from Karen at Fancy Pickins and take it to The Sweet Spot to be topped with one of their many flavors of ice cream.

After breakfast shop the Market for fresh-picked asparagus, salad greens, radishes and rhubarb. A wide selection of bedding plants is available—tomatoes, herbs, hanging baskets, and perennial flowers. Also try our locally grown lamb, pork, beef, eggs, and home-baked breads.

You still have time to purchase a Prizewinner pumpkin plant for The Great Pumpkin Contest. A $50 cash prize will be given for the largest pumpkin at Cabalo’s Pumpkin Patch in October.

The hands-on craft activity at the Confetti’s booth will be rock painting.

The Market is held Saturdays from 9 am to 12 noon at Sandstone Plaza in Kuna at the west end of Main Street. For more information, contact Cheryl McCord at 922-5113 or visit the website at www.KunaFarmersMarket.com.
