The Pollen Daubers Iris Society will be selling iris rhizomes and giving demonstrations
on iris care at the Market on Saturday. Now is the ideal time of the year to plant
iris rhizomes for vibrant, strong plants and beautiful blooms in the spring.
Members of the Pollen Daubers Iris Society will select from the many striking, award-winning
varieties in their gardens to sell at the Market. The money raised goes to purchase
new varieties from premier growers in North America and the world.
Edna Rosenbaum, owner of Black Cat Iris Nursery in Kuna, is a long-time member of
Pollen Daubers. She and Ken Gordy, the President of the Society, will discuss the
different types of iris and the proper care. They will also demonstrate how to dig
and divide iris clumps that have grown too thick. Stop by the iris sale at the Market
and let the experts help brighten your garden with iris. For more information on
the Pollen Daubers club, call Ken Gordy at 459-9451.
Our vendors continue to bring new items to the Market. Ione Zufelt of Navajo Willow
Farms is baking Whole Wheat Carrot Bread. It is moist and delicious with just a
hint of natural sweetness. She has raspberry and boysenberry jam, honey spread and
Idaho elk jerky.
Raspberries are here as are the first zucchini. These little squashes combined with
new baby carrots and green onions are wonderful for summer grilling.
Visit the Market each week to find what is new. There are always surprises from
the gardens and kitchens of our vendors.
Coming, July 18: Kuna Grange Bake Sale and early apricots
The Market is held Saturdays from 9 am to 12 noon at Sandstone Plaza in Kuna at
the west end of Main Street. For more information, contact Cheryl McCord at 922-5113
or visit the website at
