Members of the Kaveman Kritters 4-H Club are bringing lambs, goats, and other animals
to the Farmers Market on Saturday. The kids will demonstrate caring and feeding
of their animals and how their animals are shown at the fair.
Club members, ranging from in age from 9 to 18 years, raise animals as part of their
annual 4-H project. The kids keep thorough records of animal progress and expenses,
take part in interviews, and show their animals at the Canyon County Fair or the
Western Idaho Fair.
The Kaveman Kritters are also holding a bake sale to raise money for two local boys
needing medical treatment. Funds raised will go to a fellow 4-H club member, John
Faber in Notus, and to Jayden Bennett in Kuna.
Kaveman Kritters leaders are: Joan and Brian Reynolds, beef; Bob and Carla Drake,
sheep; Ashley Daniels, dairy; and Dale and Mary Reynolds, pigs.
This is an excellent opportunity to see our young people “learning by doing,” which
is the educational philosophy of the 4-H program. Bring the family to see the animals
and pick up some delicious cookies and cakes.
Produce at the Market this week: plums, green beans, purple beans, apricots, peaches,
beets, pickling cucumbers and cabbage.
Coming August 15: 2nd Annual Farmers Market Luau and Car Show
The Market is held Saturdays from 9 am to 12 noon at Sandstone Plaza in Kuna at
the west end of Main Street. For more information, contact Cheryl McCord at 922-5113
or visit the website at
